Hear our founder and chair of trustees Nicolas Roach urge the hospitality sector to donate 140,000 worth of wasted room stays to the charity sector.
Founder and Chair of Trustees Nicolas Roach set out Room Reward’s aim to donate in excess of £1million pounds worth of stays to deserving charity volunteers and frontline staff. Speaking at Room to Reward’s official Launch Lunch at the St Ermins, London, last week, Nicolas drew the hospitality sector’s attention to the huge number of unsold rooms being wasted each week in the UK. Nicolas stated: “The total number of unsold rooms each night in the UK is 140,000,” he explained. “That means that with a room rate of only £100, each week the lost value to the industry is £100m per week. We are talking about billions every year – at least £5b is a conservative estimate.” With this in mind, £1million pounds worth of stays donated to the charity sector represents only 0.02% of the overall number of … Continue reading

She has been recognised by our charity Room to Reward – where hotels donate their unsold rooms to thank amazing volunteers in communities across the UK. Watch Mandy’s story below:
This week is Small Charities Week. Small Charity Week is a campaign week established by the Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) to celebrate and raise the profile of the small charity sector. The week celebrates the contribution small charities make to communities across the UK and further afield! Here at Room to Reward, we like to think we are rather good at making a big impact, despite only being a small charity. Great things come in small packages…we like to think so.
Room to Reward has gone from strength to strength over the past six months and in line with this rapid growth, we welcome our very own volunteer, Doody Blake to the team. Doody will be supporting our fundraising efforts at Room to Reward. Doody’s first task is to arrange an exciting ‘Tea&Bubbles’ event this coming August at the Kings Arms, Christchurch. Other fundraising efforts include a Devon coastal walk and perhaps slightly crazily, Rosie and Adam will be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in August, all to raise funds for Room to Reward…they are hoping it isn’t a windy day!
It is lovely to hear how the Room to Reward scheme has helped growing charities like Michael House. We were recently able to help the homeless charity say thank you to two of their dedicated volunteers. Tracey Harrison and Jenna Milton were both nominated and awarded a short break through the Room to Reward scheme, in recognition of their commitment to Michael House, When asked how she felt about being nominated, community champion Tracey said she was “chuffed” and enjoyed a weekend in Brighton, “…the weather was awful, but that didn’t matter. The hotel was beautiful and they upgraded us.” Jenna Milton owns Creations hairdressing salon in West Parley and regularly visits Michael House to offer haircuts to the residents. Jenna was overwhelmed when hearing of her award as a charity Hidden Hero. “I did cry a lot when I … Continue reading
We are feeling rather chuffed here at Room to Reward, as we have been featured, along with the wonderful Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s volunteer Pauline and Niven the hearing dog, on the BBC’s Spotlight programme. What more could you wish for, the lovely Janine Jansen telling your charity’s story and lots of footage of quite possibly one of the most inspiring dogs in the UK! Watch the full story here and you will catch a glimpse of the Room to Reward team doing what they do best, recognising those who make the communities we live in stronger and happier places to be. http:/
