We were honoured last week to sponsor and present the ‘Most Inspirational Volunteer’ award at the Autism Professional Awards with our good friends the National Autistic Society.
Adam had the pleasure of attending the glamorous evening do and, thanks to a wonderful donation from one of our amazing supporters, we were able to donate a very special prize.
After a welcome speech from NAS CEO, friend/ambassador of Room to Reward and all round top guy Mark Lever, Adam took to the stage to announce Mandy Garford of NAS as the winner.
Thanks to our donor, R2R are able to arrange a full week’s holiday for Mandy and family at a luxury holiday home just down the road from us in Mudeford! Despite sitting next to Mandy on the night, Adam managed to keep the news about the prize to himself until the presentation, surprising Mandy on-stage with her voucher.
Mandy is an inspirational women. Relentless in her campaigns to effect change, tireless in her commitment to making a difference to the lives of autistic people and unstoppable in her quest to make the world a better place. It was a pleasure for us to be able to present the award to such an amazing individual. You can read more about Mandy here: http://www.autismprofessionalsawards.org.uk/2018winners.html.
Just to put the icing on the cake of a great night, we were delighted to offer the other Most Inspirational Volunteer nominee – the awesome Dawn O’Neill from True Colours Inclusive CIC – a break with one of the regular R2R hotel partners.
“It was a fantastic night to be part of,” said Adam. “Of course, it was tremendously exciting and a real privilege to be able to sponsor and present the award for Most Inspirational Volunteer, but the main thing I’ll remember is just how inspiring it was to be surrounded by so many people working to make a difference to the lives of autistic people.
“Thanks to the amazing donation from our anonymous supporter, we were able to offer a wonderful reward to Mandy and a well-earned break for Dawn. Thanks to the NAS for having us, we will be back!.”
Adam’s attendance at the awards was made possible by the Crown Hotel in Harrogate, part of Bespoke Hotels – long-term supporters of Room to Reward.
“We always say that R2R is entirely dependent on the generosity of our hotel partners and the Crown were fantastic with their support. The whole experience was well worth the hours on the train!”
