Read all about it!

Awards season is upon us, making it the perfect time to reveal our first collaboration of 2019. We are thrilled to be part of the Unsung Hero Awards, supporting the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ category for non-medical Hidden Heroes in the NHS. Coincidentally, the nominees for 2019 include our close friend and star of various R2R videos, Mandy!

Room to Reward are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Unsung Hero Awards to recognise the contribution of non-medical volunteers to the NHS.

The Unsung Hero Awards are the only national awards for non-medical NHS staff and volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty.

Room to Reward will support the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ category with a mini-break for the three shortlisted nominees in one of the hospitality charity’s hotel partners.

Adam Terpening – Charity Director of Room to Reward – said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to support the Unsung Hero Awards and celebrate the outstanding contribution of volunteers to our NHS.

Room to Reward was created to say ‘thank you’ to the Hidden Heroes, people who give up their time to help those in need. The NHS is a national treasure and it’s our pleasure and privilege to give a little something back to the inspirational people who give so much to it.”

Laura Tomlinson, Relationship Manager at the Unsung Hero Awards said: “Our volunteer nominees are the epitome of Hidden Heroes. It’s wonderful to be able give them back a little bit of the time they have selflessly given to the NHS and we’d like to thank Room to Reward for their support.”

Room to Reward works on a simple premise. Hotels are asked to donate their anticipated unsold rooms to the initiative, who then invite registered charities to nominate their outstanding volunteers for a well-earned break in recognition of their dedication and impact.

Over 325 hotels are now part of the scheme and more than 450 Hidden Heroes have been nominated for a break.

One of the shortlisted volunteers, Amanda Preece, is a previous recipient of a Room to Reward break. She said: I was totally blown away to receive a hotel break from Room to Reward. The hotel made us feel so welcome. We were treated like royalty. I cannot begin to express what it means as a volunteer to be noticed and recognised by such amazing organisations as Room to Reward and Unsung Hero Awards.”

The Unsung Hero Awards take place on March 1st at The Hilton in Manchester. For more information, visit www.unsungheroawards.com
