The Trustees and team at Room to Reward have taken the decision to make some alterations to our initiative and how it works for our charity partners. From Monday 11th February 2019, we will be able to accept nominations for volunteers only  For existing charity partners, this change will take effect from 1st May 2019 to give time to change internal policies and cover any pre-arranged agreements.

This decision is the result of numerous discussions at Room to Reward — as well as consultation with our hotel and charity partners – and has been taken for a number of reasons.

  1. Whilst we have been delighted to recognise the outstanding efforts of some charity staff members in the last couple of years, our aim has always been to reward and say ‘thank you’ to the Hidden Heroes who give up their time for free.
  2. A clear policy simplifies the Room to Reward process and eliminates any concerns and blurred lines around benefits in kind, who can and cannot be nominated and other issues that have arisen during our journey as a young charity
  3. Becoming ‘volunteer only’ makes it straightforward to offer our initiative to Community Interest Groups, voluntary teams and other not-for-profit organisations who truly make a difference but are not registered charities.

Volunteering is the lifeblood of the not-for-profit sector. It contributes more than f15billion to the U.K. economy each year and around 12 million people formally volunteer at least once a month.

We look forward to recognising and saying ‘thank you’ to more of society’s Hidden Heroes as our charity continues to develop and grow

Thank you for your support.
