Emma – Mosaic

Volunteers’ week

VOLUNTEERS WEEK: THURSDAY:  EMMA – MOSAIC

For The Hero’s Thursday of Volunteers Week we are celebrating the amazing work of Emma and the difference she makes to Mosaic, an incredible charity that support bereaved children

Nominee: Emma
Nominating Charity: MOSAIC
Hotel Break:The Grand, Brighton

The nomination:

“Emma has been a volunteer since 2015, when she initially volunteered to help with administration in the office. She was working for White Stuff, the High Street clothing store in Dorchester, who have had Mosaic as their charity for over 5 years. She had been fundraising for Mosaic through the shop and felt she would like to become more involved in the work we do.

After working in the office, Emma decided to become a volunteer at our residential weekends and family activities, attending many weekends and events. She also continued to work in the office and supported fundraising events by manning charity stalls at a number of local fetes and shows and obtaining prizes for raffles etc.

Emma found supporting the children at weekends very rewarding and has now changed careers, working with young people who are not in employment, helping them to start work. She is also studying to become a counsellor.

She is very dedicated to Mosaic and gives as much time as she can to volunteering and is a delight to work with.”

Emma said: “I had a fantastic time with my R2R stay. Everything was so quick and easy to organise and everyone involved has been really helpful!

The Grand were lovely and made the stay really special for me and my partner. The team were so friendly on our arrival and left a card and chocolates in our room for us to congratulate me on my award which was definitely appreciated!

The doormen/concierge team, in particular, were fantastic- from taking photos of me in their bowler hats upon arrival to jokes and personal recommendations about Brighton throughout our stay. They made us feel really welcome and helped us find some great places to visit that we might not have come across otherwise.

I wasn’t really aware before Margaret’s email that such a scheme existed! I was so grateful for Mosaic for nominating me and it really felt special to get this recognition and to see why they felt that I should be nominated. I think it’s great that hotels are jumping on board the initiative and getting involved as it is a lovely way for charities to be able to thank their volunteers.

Thanks again for my lovely stay!”
